Czech CSSD would win elections now, ahead of ODS - poll ... the Social Democrats have asked the ODS to allow for the "pairing" in order to outweigh the absence of their lawmaker.
This would mean that one of the ODS lawmakers would walk out from the room, head of the CSSD deputies' group Michal Hasek told. However, the ODS does not seem to be ready to comply with the request. Kalbac voted for Klaus on Friday. The session will also not be attended by Christian Democrat senator Karel Bartak, also considered an elector of Klaus. The presidential post is contested by Klaus and Jan Svejnar, the candidate of center-left parties. The vote is scheduled to take place at the joint session of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, both houses of the Czech Parliament, in the afternoon. The candidates need 141 votes from 281 electors from both houses of the bicameral Czech Parliament to be elected in the third round of the election.
