(17.01.2008) DW-WORLD: Head of Catholic Church in Germany to Step Down Cardinal Karl Lehmann, the head of Germany's Catholic Church, has announced that he will vacate his post on Feb. 18. The sometimes controversial, but respected bishop is known to have had health problems last year. (15.01.2008) DW-WORLD: Lutherans to Open Doors to Cash-Strapped Catholics Strapped for funds and faced with church closures, Catholics in Lower Saxony have appealed to Lutherans to share churches.
