Prague to lack 770 policemen at the end of 2007 ... fact the government provided only legal guarantees to Prague's Olympic candidacy a few weeks ago, but no financial guarantees, as it explicitly pointed out. Prague Mayor Pavel Bem (Civic Democrats, ODS) would not comment on the issue. Karel Tejkal, spokesman for the Praha Olympijska (Olympic Prague) company that is in charge of the Olympics promotion, says the figures in the questionnaire are based on a financial study by the PriceWaterhouseCoopers company and are nothing but a possibility under consideration. The costs of the candidacy will be covered by Prague, Tejkal said. The answers in the official questionnaire do not state this, however, writes HN. The IOC executive committee will meet this June to discuss the selection of the cities to be candidates for hosting the 2016 summer Olympics.
The Olympics venue will be definitively chosen at the IOC session in Copenhagen in October 2009.
