Russia has said it plans to considerably step up its humanitarian aid programme for the Serb minority in Kosovo.
Russian news agencies said Moscow will soon begin delivery of up to 10,000 tonnes of medicine, medical equipment and wheat. Earlier this month four aircraft carrying two hundred tonnes of aid arrived in Serbia. Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, firmly opposed Kosovo's unilateral declaration of independence from Serbia in February.
