World Bank's Zoellick Warns of New European Protectionism ... China and Europe. Following the talks, Barroso said he was opposed to a boycott of the Olympic Games in Beijing in August. His remark came in response to comments by French President Nicolas Sarkozy, who said on Thursday that he was "shocked" by last month's deadly violence in Tibet during a Chinese crackdown and undecided as to whether to attend the Olympic opening ceremony. Sarkozy has called for a common European position on the issue.
