North Korea detains Russian ship ... in order to prevent disturbances. Demonstrators had vowed to disrupt the event to raise awareness of Chinese policies on North Korean refugees and Bejing's crackdown in Tibet. An hour into the relay, police prevented a North Korean defector from setting himself on fire with gasoline. Another protester had earlier rushed toward the flame in an attempt to unfurl a banner calling for China to respect the rights of North Korean refugees.
