The KDU-CSL approved a resolution at its recent congress a resolution against selling health insurance companies, but it is not opposed to their transformation into joint-stock companies. "It is a matter for politicians, I am but a person who is very knowledgeable about health care and health insurance," Julinek's deputy Pavel Hrobon said on CT when asked whether another state health insurance company besides VZP could function in the Czech Republic. He said, however, VZP was established under law while six companies were founded by private entities and two companies are ministerial - one of the Interior Ministry and the other of the Defence Ministry. The opposition is against Julinek's plans and the trade unions threaten to launch protest actions.
