Austrian police are investigating whether the man who fathered seven children with his own daughter is linked to the murder of a young woman two decades ago.
Josef Fritzl has admitted to keeping his daughter locked in a windowless bunker for 24 years, repeatedly sexually assaulting her and later imprisoning their children, under his house in the small town of Amstetten. DNA testing confirmed that three children held in the basement were from him. Police have dismissed reports that he had an accomplice. Austrian Chancellor Alfred Gusenbauer has assured the public the Amstetten story an isolated case.
