US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has held talks with Palestinian President Mahmound Abbas in the West Bank town of Ramallah, where she called on Israel to do more to ease restrictrictions on Palestinian movement.
She also called on the Palestinians to take further action to curb attacks by militants on Israel. Earlier on she described the continued construction of Jewish settlements in the occupeied West Bank as "particularly problematic" but later at a news conference said a peace deal between the Israelis and Palestinians was still possible before the end of the year.
