Sudan's military says its soldiers have beaten back Saturday's assault by the Justice and Equality Movement rebels. The insurgents reached Khartoum's outskirts, where they briefly held some suburbs, after threatening to overthrow the government. A curfew that was imposed on the city has been partially relaxed. Bashir and Deby have both accused each other of breaking a non-aggression pact that the two leaders signed two months ago.
