13.05.2008 - UN grows frustrated over Burma relief

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has expressed his frustration over the stalled efforts to relieve survivors of Burma's recent cyclone. At a press conference in New York, Ban called the Burmese regime's actions "unacceptably slow", and urged the country's generals to accept outside help.

The US also announced that two more cargo aircraft were to fly in supplies on Tuesday for survivors of the storm that ravaged Burma 10 days ago. Burmese state television reports that the death toll has risen to 32,000. International relief agencies fear that at least 100,000 people are already dead.
