Fresh fighting reported in Basra ... Iraq's ruling Shi'ite alliance and the opposition led by anti-American Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr had agreed on Sunday to a deal to end violence that has left hundreds dead in recent weeks. The new skirmishes have raised doubts that al-Sadr has control over all the elements of the Mehdi Army in the eastern Baghdad quarter.
