He said he wants to submit to the government by the autumn a draft new climate policy of the Czech Republic, including specific reduction projects. According to the study, the cost of halving greenhouse gases from the current level would cost less than 2000 crowns per saved tonne of the gases. The Czech Republic could even cut the emissions by 70 percent by 2020, but the costs would be higher, according to the study. The emissions reduction will be reached through substitution of gas for coal in power industry, a higher use of biomass and an increase in the effectiveness of fuels in transport and of the energy effectiveness of products and production.
