The US Department of Defense has dropped charges against the alleged "20th hijacker" of the September 11 attacks on New York and Washington.
The Pentagon provided no explanation for not bringing Mohammed al-Qahtani to a military trial. Five alleged co-conspirators of the 9/11 attacks, however, have been referred to a military tribunal on capital charges.
