The death toll from China's devastating earthquake could reach more than 50,000.

Police 'shot at Tibet protesters' ... of the quake in Sichuan province. Rescue workers to find tens of thousands buried in rubble are only beginning to reach those areas hardest hit. The military is using airdrops to get much needed aid supplies to victims. To help with efforts, the Chinese government has agreed to allow Japan and Taiwan to send emergency rescue teams to search for possible survivors of the earthquake. The Ministry of Industry has also made a public plea for equipment from hand tools to heavy machinery to help rescuers, many of whom have been shown working with their bare hands.
