Food Program, Josette Sheeran, said that a total of 800 million euros had been donated by countries to provide food for 75 million people who are going hungry because of soaring food prices. Food prices have doubled in recent years, according to the World Bank, sparking riots in many African nations. Brazil, Vietnam, India and Egypt have all imposed food export restrictions. World Bank President Robert Zoellick called for the lifting of trade barriers that contribute to food price inflation.
