05.06.2008 - Reactor safe says Slovenia

Slovenia has reassured the European Union that Wednesday's cooling system leak in its only nuclear power plant at Krsko posed no threat.

Its spokesman Thomas Breuer told Deutsche Welle that the loss of reactor coolant was among one of the worst scenarios. Slovenia says it safely shut down the reactor manually. Krsko, co-owned by Slovenia and Croatia, is the only commercial reactor in former Yugoslavia.
