Zimbabwean police have reportedly released opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
That's according to a statement by Tsvangirai's party, the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC). The MDC leader had been detained for about two hours at a police station in Esigodini, 40 km southeast of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe's second largest city. It was Tsvangirai's second police detention this week and comes ahead of Zimbabwe's presidential run-off election on June 27. An MDC spokesman said police had instructed Tsvangirai to go back to Bulawayo, instead of proceeding with his election campaign. Tsvangirai's campaign to unseat President Robert Mugabe has been met with violence and intimidation from government forces.
