Turkey's ruling AK Party has accused the country's highest court of usurping the government's authority, after it upheld a ban on headscarves at universities.
Following a six hour emergency party meeting, a spokesperson for the Islamic oriented AKP, said the court's ruling was a violation of Turkey's separation of powers. The right for female Muslims to wear headscarves at university is a key policy of the AK party.
