A plane that crashed four days ago in Chile has been found in a forest in the south of the country, with all nine passengers alive, officials say.

None of the survivors is seriously injured and four have already been taken to a nearby town.

The rescue operation involved dozens of people, who scoured the remote area to find the plane. The cause of the crash is being investigated.

Chilean Deputy Interior Minister Felipe Harboe said the pilot apparently manoeuvred the plane to lessen the impact of the crash in the thickly wooded area, the Associated Press news agency reports.

Mr Harboe said four survivors had already been taken to the nearby town of Puerto Raul Marin for medical checks.

The plane disappeared on Saturday during a flight from Puerto Montt to La Junta - a village in the Aysen region.

All the passengers were Chilean nationals, reports say.
