Bush has arrived in Rome on what is expected to be his last European tour before he leaves office in January. He is holding talks with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and will be meeting other political leaders. France to boost its Afghan forces ... Pope Benedict XVI at the Vatican. Earlier in the day, the US president was in Germany for talks with Chancellor Angela Merkel. Merkel said she favoured imposing fresh sanctions on Tehran unless it complied with international demands to stop its uranium enrichment activities. Bush said that all options were on the table, but that his first choice was to resolve the dispute diplomatically. After his Rome and Vatican stops, Bush will fly on to France and Britain.
