Zimbabwe's opposition says security forces are continuing to harass it ahead of the country's June 27 presidential run-off election. The Movement for Democratic Change says police impounded two of its buses, used by its candidate, Morgan Tsvangirai, for campaigning. Tsvangirai has been temporarily detained by police four times this week.
Meanwhile, the United Nation's top humanitarian official has warned of a worsening food situation in the country. John Holmes told the UN Security Council that the coming harvest would likely only cover one quarter of Zimbabwe's needs. Holmes also appealed to the government of President Robert Mugabe, to lift its ban on foreign aid organisations working within the country.
