Topolanek said in a press release that the Czech Republic continues to prepare for EU presidency in the first half of next year irrespective of the Irish "no."
"Since the very beginning we have worked with both possible results of the process of ratification," Topolanek wrote.
Further procedure and consequences of the failed ratification of the Lisbon treaty that was to replace the rejected European constitution will be discussed at the forthcoming session of the European Council in Brussels, he reminded.
The Lisbon treaty would take effect only if all 27 member countries ratified it.

EU tightens rules for lobbyists ... consider the Irish no less serious than the previous French and Dutch noes," Topolanek wrote in reference to the rejection of the European constitution in referendums in France and the Netherlands.
The Czech Senate has sent the Lisbon treaty to the Constitutional Court to say whether the document is in harmony with the Czech constitution.
The Lisbon treaty is to be ratified by parliaments in all other countries but Ireland.
The rejection of the Lisbon treaty in Ireland, if confirmed, would mean no greater changes to Czech EU presidency compared to the previous presidencies.
