A 7.2-magnitude earthquake has ripped across the mountains and rice fields of northern Japan, killing at least six people.
Saturday's quake sheared off hillsides, jolted buildings and even caused a leak of radioactive water at a nuclear power plant. The plant's operator said however, the leak was small and did not pose a threat. Officials say some 200 people are injured and at least eight people are still missing. The quake has been followed by some 153 aftershocks.
