Inflation among the 15 countries which use the euro has climbed to its highest level since the currency's launch in 1999.
The European Union's Eurostat agency reports that inflation jumped to 3.7 percent in the year leading up to May. The hike comes amid soaring prices for energy, commodities and food, and increases the likelihood that the European Central Bank will raise interest rates at its meeting next month.
