Largest number of children since 1993 born in CzechRep last year ... Czech raid police. The detectives today arrested a nationally wanted man who has avoided serving his prison sentence using Taser. Last year, the United Nations described the use of the electroshock weapons as a form of torture. The operation took place in a tenant house in Prague's Zizkov neighbourhood this morning. Police arrived there to arrest a 38-year-old convict who is to spend several years behind bars according to the court verdict. As there was a potential danger of the man being armed the detectives used Taser that temporarily paralysed the man after which he was taken to prison. Defending the use of Taser that is considered controversial following cases of injury and death caused by the weapons, Czech police say Taser does not affect the activity of the person's heart or sphincters.
The person is in full conscience, he sees and hears but cannot command his muscles and the effect is short lasting. Last year, the U.N. Committee Against Torture arrived at the conclusion that the type of Taser that is also used by the Czech police, causes extreme pain and in certain cases even death. It stated that the use of Taser is a form of torture.
