1903: TEAMS Poland v Croatia

Runje, Simic, Vejic, Knezevic, Pranjic, Leko, Vukojevic, Pokrivac, Rakitic, Klasnic, Petric. Subs: Pletikosa, Galinovic, Simunic, Robert Kovac, Corluka, Nico Kovac, Kalinic, Srna, Modric, Olic, Kranjcar, Budan.
1858: So Germany make one change to their starting line-up with Arne Friedrich coming in for the injured defender Marcell Jansen. Friedrich will start on the right while Philipp Lahm will shift flanks to cover Jansen's position. Austria's Martin Hiden replaces suspended defender Sebastian Prodl while Erwein Hoffer will partner Martin Harnik up front, with Roland Linz dropping to the bench.
1855: TEAMS Austria v Germany
Austria: Macho, Garics, Stranzl, Hiden, Pogatetz, Harnik, Aufhauser, Ivanschitz, Fuchs, Korkmaz, Hoffer. Subs: Manninger, Ozcan, Standfest, Vastic, Leitgeb, Linz, Gercaliu, Katzer, Patocka, Kienast, Saumel.
Germany: Lehmann, Friedrich, Mertesacker, Metzelder, Lahm, Fritz, Frings, Ballack, Podolski, Gomez, Klose. Subs: Enke, Adler, Jansen, Westermann, Rolfes, Neuville, Trochowski, Hitzlsperger, Borowski, Odonkor, Kuranyi.
1852: If there was one teeny tiny disappointment about last night's thriller between Turkey and the Czech Republic, it was that we missed out on a historic penalty shoot-out (as well as the chance to see Middlesbrough striker Tuncay trying to stop the Czech spot-kicks). But get this: we could get a shoot-out tomorrow night instead. Between France and Italy. To decide who finishes bottom of Group C. Remarkable.
1849: What kind of musical madness is this? The DJ at the Ernst Happel Stadium appears to be playing Robbie Williams' Angels backed by the drum beat from Queen's We Will Rock You. My ears are bleeding.
1844: Your wish, AndersonsRightWrist on 606, is my command. Croatia have qualified for the quarter-finals as group winners. Germany will follow suit if they gain a point against Austria. Austria will qualify if they beat Germany, and Poland do not beat Croatia by a bigger margin. If Poland and Austria both win and finish level on goal difference and goals scored, Poland will progress because of their superior co-efficient ranking. Geddit? Not sure I do...
1842: Some early team news for you. And it's a shock. Germany striker Mario Gomez keeps his place, despite his unconvincing form so far. That means three-goal Lukas Podolski stays on the left wing.
1836: Police are expecting 200,000 fans to descend on Vienna to watch this game and only 53,000 of those will be inside the Ernst Happel Stadium. According to BBC man Phil Gordos, lots of the Austria fans are wearing 'Cordoba 1978' T-shirts, a reference to the 1978 World Cup meeting between the two sides, when Hans Krankl's 88th-minute goal gave the Austrians a 3-2 win. It was in the final round of matches in the second group phase. The Austrians were already out but made sure West Germany didn't progress either.
1834: Back to today's action and the entire Austrian camp appears to have been struck with a bad case of Tourettes ahead of this game (see 1825). Striker Martin Harnick appears on the front of one newspaper, suggesting Germany will be so nervous, it will have a disastrous effect on their bowels (or words to that effect).
1831: bluesboyz over on 606 echoes my own sentiments with this post: "Turkey! Turkey!! Turkey!!!" An unforgettable game last night - even in this ridiculous tournament. Little did I know when I opted to support Turkey at Euro 2008 what a brilliant ride it would be.

1825: Of course, the Fifa world rankings are a strange phenomenon. England are riding high in ninth, ahead of Holland, Portugal and a whole host of nations who actually managed to qualify for Euro 2008. Told of the gap between Austria in 92nd and Germany in fifth, Austria assistant manager Andreas Herzog's eloquent response was: "They can shove that up their *****." Fair enough.
1820: Austria? The 92nd best team in the world? Beat Germany? The three-times European Championship winners? It can't happen… can it?
