The procedure of appointing supreme state attorney could be changed as well as the length of his/her tenure, Pospisil said. In recent weeks, doubts about the independence of Supreme State Attorney Renata Vesecka and her office have arisen in connection with the steps she took in the case of Deputy Prime Minister Jiri Cunek, whose prosecution for corruption was halted under unusual circumstances a year ago. A court recently stated that Vesecka and other judicial officials had interfered in Cunek's Many injured in Pakistan attack ...
Tornadoes tear through Virginia ... cause inadmissibly and therefore an opposition politician need not apologise for having called them "judicial mafia." There are more ways to strengthen the position of the Supreme State Attorney's Office and remove speculations on whether it works on politicians' order, Pospisil said. He said the supreme state attorney could be appointed by the president under the new rules. The supreme state attorney could have a limited mandate period and he/she could hold the post only once.
While in the post, it would be impossible to dismiss them. This would make the state attorneys more independent and no suspicions would arise that they work for someone, Pospisil said. He said he has already completed the basics of the relevant bill and will submit them to the government in a fortnight. The bill's complete wording could be finished in July.
