16.06.2008 - Rich nations falling short of African aid promises

An international humanitarian panel has warned that wealthy countries are likely to fail in their promise to deliver billions more in aid to Africa by 2010.

The Africa Progress Panel was set up last year to monitor the commitments of the Group of Eight industrialised countries. The panel found that G8 countries would fall short of targets pledged at Gleneagles, Scotland, in 2005, by around 40 billion dollars.
