A series of Israeli air strikes on the Gaza Strip has killed six Palestinian gunmen and wounded several more.
The Islamic Jihad movement said five of its militants died when a missile hit the car they were travelling in near Qarara village near the southern town of Khan Yunis. A sixth one was killed in Deir al-Balah. The strikes came as Israel awaited a response from the Hamas movement and other Palestinian factions to an Egyptian-mediated truce proposal that would end rocket attacks from Gaza on Israeli territory and Israeli raids in the Gaza Strip.
