The reason for the court's ruling is not known yet. Paroubek criticised the fact that he was not allowed to read the investigation files. Former Czech police organised crime squad (UOOZ) chief Jan Kubice released his report that mentioned links between the then CSSD-run administration and organised crime ahead of the general election in June 2006. The report also said that Paroubek, then prime minister, the Interior Ministry and the police president were trying to influence the investigation into serious crimes. The document, submitted to the lower house defence and security committee, leaked to the media a couple of days ahead of the elections. No one was accused in the case. However, Paroubek's lawyers insisted on having access to the investigation files. They said they wanted to use the information from the document to exonerate Paroubek's name. However, the anti-corruption police did not allow them to do so, arguing that Paroubek was not directly damaged by the report. Paroubek disagrees with this stance.
