Algeria's Football Federation dismissed the accusations as "baseless".

Algeria were beaten 1-0 by The Gambia in Banjul on Saturday in a 2010 World Cup qualifier.

The Gambia Football Association (GFA) detailed their allegations in a letter to football's world governing body.

"We regret to inform you that during The Gambia/Algeria match played on 14 June, several threats were made to our players by certain Algerian players who claimed to be 'terrorists'," said GFA secretary general Jammeh EK Bojang, in the statement to Fifa.

"Our player, Ousman Jallow, was confronted during the match by two Algerian players, who threatened to bomb our hotel in Algiers during the return match this coming weekend.

"As a consequence, we are writing to inform you of these threats so that precautionary measures can be taken to safeguard the well-being of our national delegation in Algeria." the statement added.

Algerian Football Federation vice president Hamid Zefzaf, told Reuters: "It's not true. It's baseless. We haven't spoken to them in that way.

"They have already arrived in Algiers, and we have provided two buses for them, despite the fact that they didn't do the same thing for us."

Algeria has been rocked by violence since civil conflict in the 1990s that killed up to 200,000 people.

Recent years have seen repeated bomb attacks by Islamist militants who have called themselves the North African wing of Osama bin Laden's al Qaeda network.
