At the European soccer championship, Germany is currently playing Portugal in Thursday's quarter-final knockout match.
German coach Joachim Loew is not allowed to help his team from the sidelines, he has been given a one-match suspension for arguing with officials on Monday. Adding to Germany's woes is the loss of midfielder Torsten Frings, who suffered a broken rib in Monday's game against Austria. However, forward Lukas Podolski has been cleared to play despite concerns about an injured calf muscle.
