The verdict has not yet taken effect and may be appealed. According to the prosecution, Miekigi abducted entrepreneur Jakub Konecny on the order of Konecny's business partner Krejcir. Miekigi and Krejcir allegedly forced Konecny to sign blank promissory notes, empty sheets of paper and tax documents.
Afterwards they released him. The police believe that with the aid of the blank documents, Krejcir gained real estate worth 35 million crowns from Konecny. Within the case, Krejcir has been charged with extortion and criminal confinement in a separate trial. His proceedings started in Prague this week. He has stayed in South Africa since April 2007 when he arrived there on a false passport from the Seychelles where he fled in 2005 and of which he has citizenship.
