Health workers reject pay offer ... Zimbabwe's government with further sanctions amid reports of escalating pre-election violence. Speaking from Brussels, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown said the measures could include targeted pressure on members of President Robert Mugabe's regime.
Brown blamed Mugabe for orchestrating a campaign of intimidation against opposition supporters. Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF party blames the opposition Movement for Democratic Change for the violence. Zimbabweans are due to go to the polls next Friday in a presidential run-off election between Mugabe and opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai.
