Along with Czech Culture Minister Vaclav Jehlicka, the founding decree was signed by the state secretaries of the other Visegrad Four countries - Poland, Slovakia and Hungary. Representatives of the Olomouc region authorities and director of the museum also signed the document. The costs of the construction of the Central European Forum and the reconstruction of the Arts Museum will reach 500 million crowns that will be covered from EU money. Museum director Pavel Zatloukal said the Central European Forum would gather arts, musical, film and theatre works not only from the Visegrad Four countries, but also from Austria and Germany. The archives of the cultural activities in the 1945-1989 period will also be its part. "We naturally have the basics of the collections because we have been dealing with the problem for 10 years," Zatloukal told CTK. He appealed to the representatives of the other countries to ask their institutions to help the newly-established forum. Zatloukal said he hoped that the forum would attract more tourists to Olomouc in the future. "It will certainly contribute to cultural exchanges because there is a great interest in modern art in the world," Jehlicka said. The Olomouc Arts Museum that also includes the Olomouc Archdiocese museum, is the third largest institution of its type in the Czech Republic. There are some 200,000 items in its collections.
