The trial of British mercenary Simon Mann has wrapped up in Equatorial Guinea.
A verdict is expected next week. Prosecutors have asked for a sentence of more than 30 years, but Mann's lawyer argued for leniency, saying that his client had been used as a pawn by powerful international businessmen. Mann is charged with leading a failed coup in to topple the government of President Teodoro Obiang. The court was also told that a London-based millionaire bankrolled the plan, which aimed to secure access to the country's rich oil reserves. Mann was arrested in Zimbabwe in March 2004 along with 70 mercenaries en route to Equatorial Guinea.
