Mohamed ElBaradei, the head of the UN atomic watchdog agency, has warned against attacks on Iran amid reports that Israel has rehearsed a potential air raid.
The New York Times says more than 100 Israeli warplanes exercised over the eastern Mediterranean in recent weeks to practice a potential strike on Iran's nuclear facilities. ElBaradei told Al Arabiya television that an attack would prompt Iran to start a crash course to build weapons and could turn the Middle East into a "fireball". At the moment Iran was not a grave danger, he said, warning he would quit his job if an attack eventuated.
