At the European soccer championship, Russia have defeated the Netherlands 3-1 in a quarter-final match played in Basel to advance to the semi-finals.
The Russians, led by their Dutch coach Guus Hiddink, needed extra time to earn the win, after the two teams finished level at one each after 90 minutes. Russia will now go on to face the winner of Sunday's quarter-final match between Spain and Italy.
