South Korean Olympic torch relay accompanied by protests ... a three-day visit to Syria to inspect a site that was bombed by Israel last year. The International Atomic Energy Agency's deputy chief, Olli Heinonen, is to lead the team as it tours the Al-Kibar site in a remote desert area of north-eastern Syria. The team is to submit its findings to the IAEA's next regular board meeting in September. The United States claims that the site was a nuclear facility that was built with North Korean assistance and was close to becoming operational. Syria has denied the allegations and said Al-Kibar was a disused military building.
