The UN atomic watchdog chief Mohamed ElBaradei said the consequences of any Israeli air strike against Iran's nuclear programme would be catastrophic for the entire region.

Relaunch of Israeli-Syrian peace talks possible ... conducted a large-scale military exercise this month which US analysts believe was meant to show Israel can attack Iran's nuclear sites. ElBaradei said such a strike would turn the Middle East into a fireball. Iran's speaker of the national assembly, Ali Larijani, was quoted as saying that any Israeli attack would be a grave mistake and that Israel would pay a high price for it.
