Germany is set to mark the 60th anniversary of the start of the Berlin Airlift.
Politicians, military officials and pilots to participated in the airlift are to attend a ceremony at Frankfurt international airport to mark the event. Later in the day, seven of the former pilots are to fly to Berlin for a further ceremony. The Berlin airlift was launched by the Allies on June 26, 1948, after the Soviet Union imposed a blockade on the Western-controlled sectors of Berlin.
