A car bomb has killed 18 people in the northern Iraqi city of Mosul.
According to the US military about 80 people were also injured in the blast. Elsewhere, local officials say a suicide attacker detonated a bomb at a tribal council meeting west of Baghdad killing at least 12 people, including the chairman of the council.
