At the same time the Prague Services work harder to clean and tidy the centre. The municipal police patrols are monitoring the observance of the new directive in the streets. They have not fined anyone for throwing rubbish yet. The new directive, in effect as from July 1, also bans feeding pigeons in the city, public excretion, advertisements placed outside the officially permitted areas as well as other violations of public order. Police can fine these offences with 1,000 crowns on the spot. In administrative proceedings, the perpetrators face a fine of up to 30,000 crowns. Foreign tourists do not know about the new directive, Tomio Okamura, spokesman for the Association of Czech Tourist Agencies, told CTK on Monday. He criticised the Prague City Hall for not having distributed information about the new directive, which, he said, might cause troubles as not all foreigners are used to similar rules from their home countries.
