Lufthansa employees have conducted warning strikes at a number of German aiports.
Flights to and from airports across Germany were cancelled or delayed when some 4,500 Lufthansa employees walked off their jobs for up to four hours. The strike mainly involved ground personnel from Frankfurt Airport, but employees in Munich, Stuttgart and Cologne also followed the strike call made by ver.di. The trade union is seeking a 9.8 percent pay hike for Lufthansa's roughly 60,000 ground and cabin personnel. The airline has offered a general increase of 3.4 percent, with ground crews set to get an additional 2.1 percent over 19 months. Wage talks between the two sides are to continue on Thursday.
