US President George W Bush is to visit South Korea before attending the Summer Olympics in Beijing next month.
The White House announced the visit after weeks of violent protests in the South Korean capital over the lifting of a ban on US beef imports. Bush will also be meeting with leaders of Japan, China and South Korea on the sidelines of the Group of Eight summit next week to discuss efforts to force North Korea to abandon its nuclear weapons programme.
