CzechRep may face trial over recognition of qualifications ... in Sternberk, north Moravia, started independent tests of two APCs without which the Czech military does not want to sign the contract. Originally, the Czech military wanted to buy 199 Pandurs but the government abrogated the contract worth more than 20 billion crowns late last year, citing Steyr's failure to supply the first vehicles by the set deadline. This January Steyr was given a second chance, but Prague decided to lower the number of the ordered vehicles to 107. As a result, the Defence Ministry will probably save some costs thanks to the new project. Deputy Defence Minister Martin Bartak said earlier the exact price was yet to be fixed. Along with 60 combat versions with a turret, the military is interested in another five modifications: command vehicles, armoured reconnaissance vehicles, mortar vehicles, engineering support vehicles and salvage vehicles.
