Syrian security forces are reported to have shot dead a number of prisoners during a riot at a military jail near Damascus.
The London-based group, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said in a statement that military police killed tens of inmates while putting down a riot over conditions. Syrian authorities have not confirmed the incident or responded to the report.
