The wealthy Gulf state also appointed a new ambassador to Baghdad. The announcement was made at the start of a two-day visit to Abu Dhabi on Sunday by Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. The acts are viewed as evidence of Iraq's improved security and growing acceptance of its Shi'ite-led government by Sunni Arab neighbours. The United States has been pushing its Arab allies to send ambassadors to Baghdad to support Maliki's government.
