The Church of England's General Synod decided late on Monday to press ahead with the legislation to introduce women bishops despite threats by more than 1,300 clergy to quit over the issue. The Church of England is led by the Archbishop of Canterbury Rowan Williams, and is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion comprising 77 million followers.
